Baking in our new home

First post after a very long time and some many weeks. Baking in our new home is not as easy as we thought as the oven is a bit crazy - you can't check the temperature or the mode it is in so it's pure luck really. These are some snack bars we made a few weeks ago, really moist and full of nuts and oats, mmm!

Breakfast bars

Today Alex made these breakfast bars with a recipe from the Meat Free Monday Cookbook.
I confess: they looked to good I couldn't wait until tomorrow morning so I had one for supper with a cup of green tea, mmm!
I don't think I'm going to need a Graze box any time soon!

Mango lassi

I got a surprise smoothie when I got home the other day...
This time it was a mango lassi. We've been big fans of mango lassis since we tried them at the Vegetarian Food Studio. So smooth and refreshing, perfect companion to spicy food!

Hello world!

So this blog starts with a pop, ta-dah! (and by that I mean there's popcorn in the first post)

We're Alice and Alex, a couple surprisingly on the thin side when one considers our obsession with food. A daily pleasure in this household is snacking, the food in between meals that keeps you going throughout the day. Whether it's that mid-morning coffee, energy-giving bananas or homemade biscuits, here's a sample of what we have for the most neglected of meals: elevenses.
Okay, this is strictly not 'elevenses' because it was in the afternoon rather than in the morning, but from now on we will pretend elevenses are for any time of day between meals. This is what I had: almond milk hot chocolate and salty popcorn.
Alex had the of course healthier option: carrot sticks dipped in homemade hummus and spicy peach chutney. He also had some apple juice to wash it down.

To follow the Sunday tradition, we read The Observer and thought of our next meal.
